Thor #160

And Now… Galactus!

Credits

Thor is on patrol when he spots an alien ship land on a nearby roof. Going to investigate he discovers that it is piloted by Tana Nile, a Colonizer from Rigel.[1] She has come to seek the thunder god’s aid with a threat to her home world. Thor agrees to help and the two soon leave Earth.

Meanwhile, in Asgard, Thor questions the Regellian Recorder to learn how it operates. They are interrupted by Sif who asks for permission to go to Earth and be by Thor’s side. Odin refuses this order and, suddenly, the Recorder gets a summons back to his home world. The Recorder refuses to tell Sif what danger he is returning to. As he flies back to Rigel, the Recorder wonders what menace Galactus poses to his creators.

Elsewhere, Thor and Tana Nile are on their way to Rigel when they are attacked by a Taurian, the last survivor of his race after his world was consumed by Galactus. Thor quickly subdues their attacker, it takes all the fight out of the alien who was driven mad seeing his world destroyed. Soon, Tana Nile pilots their ship past the ruined world that was just consumed by Galactus. They also cross paths with a fleet of ships of other alien races who have escaped the hunger of Galactus.

An incalculable distance away, the ship carrying Galactus approaches the Black Galaxy. Once again, Galactus feels some massive life force coming from this area of space and decides to investigate it this time and destroy it if it poses a threat to him.[2] This life sign blasts the ship carrying Galactus in an effort to destroy him. It doesn’t work and he ventues into the Black Galaxy in a smaller scout ship. There, Galactus comes face-to-face with Ego the Living Planet.

By this time, Thor and Tana Nile have reached Rigel. There they meet with the Grand Commissioner. Although their world is cloaked from Galactus, he fears that it won’t last much long and they will be a risk of being destroyed. Thor agrees to confront Galactus in the Black Galaxy. He is to be joined with the Recorder, whom Thor is glad to have along on this quest. Taking a two man ship, Thor and the Recorder race into the Black Galaxy. They are unaware that they are being followed by the Wanderers, the first victims of Galactus who seek to get revenge against the world devourer.[3] Seeing this as an opportunity to finally destroy their foe, they all agree to follow after Thor.

Thor arrives in the Black Galaxy it’s just as Ego and Galactus begin their battle. The forces involved as so powerful that they tear the ship to shreds leaving Thor and the Recorder floating in the void of space.
